In this event dedicated to the beauty and the Culture of the Aegean Islands, the North Aegean Region will have the honour to welcome H.E. the Ambassador of Greece to the U.K, mr. Ioannis Tsaousis, the renowned writer Victoria Hislop, the award winning film director Eva Nathena who will speak of THE CHIOS FESTIVAL and Lakis Lazopoulos who will introduce us to SAPPHO LESBOS FESTIVAL that will take place in Lesbos in June.
The success of last year’s Chios Festival https://politistikadromena.gr/ which was under the auspices of the British Embassy, encouraged us to arrange yet another line of distinguished speakers such as H.E. the Ambassador of UK in Athens Mr. Matthew Lodge, the Regius Professor of Greek in Cambridge University Mr. Tim Witmarsh, Bettany Hughes, Victoria Hislop, the Earl of St Andrews Chancellor of Bolton University, Prof. George Babiniotis, Prof. Nick Stambolidis, Director of the Acropolis Museum, Prof. Christos Zerefos, S.G. of Athens Academy, the actress and historian Mimi Denissi, the musicians George Lemos and George Hatzinasios, the film director Eva Nathena, followed by Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Eleonora Zouganeli in concert and the list goes on. On the 28th of August, the renowned artist Kalliopi Lemou will inaugurate an exhibition of her work especially made for the Festival at the Hamidie Tzami in Chios Medieval Castle with the collaboration of the Hellenic Centre in London.
